In a vibrant and inspiring ceremony, Kent Mayor Dana Ralph officially launched a new chapter in the city’s community-driven initiatives by leading a ribbon-cutting event hosted by Living Well Kent. The event, held at the heart of Kent, marked the official kickoff of revitalized programs such as the 2025 Kent Farmers Market and broader community partnerships aimed at equity, wellness, and inclusion.

Mayor Ralph was introduced by Ms. Shamso Isaak, the Executive Director of Living Well Kent, who praised the city’s growing collaboration with local organizations dedicated to improving the lives of Kent residents.
“A special thank you to Mayor Dana Ralph, ” said Isaak. “This partnership represents our joint vision of promoting health equity, economic opportunity, and cultural inclusion.”
Living Well Kent, a grassroots nonprofit focused on community wellness and empowerment, has joined forces with the City of Kent to produce and manage the Kent Farmers Market beginning in 2025. The ribbon-cutting ceremony not only celebrated this partnership but also symbolized a renewed commitment to serve diverse communities in meaningful, sustainable ways.

Mayor Ralph expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration and the future it promises.
“We’re thrilled about the partnership with Living Well Kent and the new direction for the Kent Farmers Market,” Mayor Ralph said during her remarks. “This revitalization aligns with our city’s commitment to community health, economic development, and cultural inclusion.”
The ceremony brought together city leaders, community advocates, small business owners, and residents—demonstrating the city’s focus on unity and collaboration. The event featured engaging conversations, photo opportunities, and a shared optimism about the future of Kent’s neighborhoods.
The 2025 Kent Farmers Market, under new leadership, will include seasonal programming, cultural showcases, youth engagement activities, and improved access to local, nutritious food. With guidance from leaders like Ms. Isaak and Mayor Ralph, the initiative is expected to become a cornerstone of Kent’s community revitalization efforts.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was more than a symbolic gesture; it was a powerful reminder that community progress is achieved through shared purpose and authentic partnership.
As Kent looks ahead, this event stands as a testament to what is possible when city leadership and grassroots organizations work hand-in-hand to elevate every voice and improve quality of life for all residents.
